We are Blessed with the Breath of Life
November 21, 2007
The very breath of life, where would we be without it? We would not be able to come together and experience the joy in partaking in any celebration on this Thanksgiving Day. To taste the succulent turkey and refreshing cranberry on your plate or to sip from the glass of fine wine that is offered, is but a simple pleasure we can share with our family and friends on this special day. However, the love and gratitude we exchange with one another is anything but mundane. It is the entire essence of our reason for being!
Dressing the turkey, peeling the potatoes and baking the holiday pies is all part of the preparation for this special gathering. And then the moment comes when we are all seated at the table and before we partake in the feast before us, we join hands and bow our heads for a Thanksgiving prayer.
The candles are lit, the music is playing in the background, and the children are having fun putting the olives on their little fingers while the adults are telling their stories and chattering about their days gone by. For a moment in time, we have all come together in our love and gratitude, putting our problems aside in the spirit of “Thanksgiving”. Then before you know it, the meal is over, the men retire to the living room to watch the game while the women put the food away and clean up the kitchen. It is tradition!
Today we ask you, when you are on your way home from this Thanksgiving Day, or taking the leaves out from the dining room table and putting the chairs away, be ever so grateful for the life you have been given and the time you were able to come together, celebrate and give thanks! We are so very blessed to be able to express our love and gratitude and to share our abundance with others.
