I seem to have forgotten.

Hello,
Can anyone offer some insight please? How does one begin to communicate with their Guides, Angels, etc? Prayer I know. Meditation I'm beginning to practice. When I was younger (childhood through teens), I was in almost constant communication with a being only I seemed to be able to see who protected me physically and spiritually. He was my best and really only friend until I was about 14. I was a lonely child who never quite fit in, never had friends, because I could see and do things no one else could. I suppose over time I closed the door on this ability due to the need for human interaction as I percieved it as a young adult. Now however, I long to return to that place. It no longer matters if I'm considered odd as I have learned to love myself. I understand that what one does not find within, one cannot find without. But I seem to have lost the key to that door I closed 20 yrs ago. It was a natural ability. Always there as long as I can remember. So I don't know how it began. Now I have a daughter of my own. I believe she is one of the Crystal children. I have been in communication with her since before she was concieved and even at only 3 months of age, we have wonderful conversations. (I'm hoping that here in this forum, I don't sound too crazy!! lol) But she has reminded me of how I used to be able to communicate with other spirits. I don't even remember the name of my Guide or whatever he is, but I can still see his face in my mind's eye. Any advice would be appreciated, since I am finally at a place where I want to begin whatever it was I had wanted to do in this lifetime. Trouble is, I can't remember what it was! (Can't remember what I had for breakfast yesterday either, but that's a different story, lol!)Many thanks and bright blessings to all.
