Mountains & Molehills
Someone Special wrote this poem for me over twenty years ago. It was rather a significant love relationship for me, one that created in me a life long pursuit of Divine Union, to experience what the Christ and Magdelene really enjoyed together. "He" was a young, beautiful, an Engineering Student at my university. He made me laugh. He had power and he could dance. A heavenly combination! Here is "his" bittersweet poem to me:
Standing
at the base
of a towering mountain,
jagged cliffs
enticing me,
hiding a path
to the summit.
Closing my eyes,
I climb
up, up and up,
discovering every niche
every outcropping
pulling myself
higher and higher
And, although
I long to discover
to brave
the challenge of the climb,
I open my eyes
and see my feet
firmly rooted to the ground,
roots not easily broken.
The themes of climbing mountains has been one of mine since this relationship ended so long ago. We all have fear of some kind, constantly finding ourselves at the beginnings of our own leaps of faith. The difference in those who leap and those who do not is "coeur-age". In French, coeur means heart. I think of courage as full of heart, like Richard The Lion Hearted, brave and true, like Joan of Arc, young and full of faith or the countless millions of us who fall in and out of love with our selves, with each other taking risk and leaping head first off of mountain tops just to taste it once. We all have made mountains out of molehills havent we? Y(our) problem, is not so difficult for me to overcome but for you, it can seem enormous and insurmountable. We are the same, you and I. We have all felt the same pain, experienced the same bliss and shared the same air as we breathe in our passions and our pursuits of happiness. Lost and found and lost again. No beginning and no end, the circle of life, infinity itself. I've observed that many people think they are in action but therein lies the fundamental problem, they are simply thinking about it, not doing it.
What are you thinking about and not yet done? What dream have you dreamt and not yet built up brick by brick, layer by layer? What molehill have you made so large, that blocks you from your destiny? Walt Disney said, "all of your dreams can come true if you have the courage to pursue them." I believe he is right. It is a small world afterall. We are the same you and I. Love connects us throughout the ages and ages. It is the pursuit of all adventurers, travellers, nomads, goddesses and gods. The climb up the steepest mountain begins with one small step up. Step up and follow your own legend. Be the champion of your own dreams. Be your best love-her. Take a chance. Take a leap. Spread your wings and fly...........;)
