Sagittarius Surprises

As the Moon waxes to full this week, keep your eyes open. The Universe will surely surprise and delight you.

The Full Moon in Sagittarius is a joyous affair, intensified with Jupiter and Pluto in the sign of the Archer. Get out and play. Celebrate what has manifested in your life during this lunar cycle. Create from the heart.

The Sun in Gemini opposes the Moon, making this a social, chatty festival. Don't think too much and spoil the fun. Uranus, the Awakener, beams in with a square to Jupiter. Sudden insight and inspiration are on the horizon.

As Pluto and Jupiter transit Sagittarius, our core beliefs are shattered. Pluto delves into the subconscious to clear outdated thoughts, emotions and conditioning to make way for higher truth, expanded consciousness, more and more love.

At this Full Moon, open to new possibilities. Celebrate and create. Aim for the stars.

Current Influences

In the Northern Hemisphere, we're finally thawing and drying out from the last blasts of a volatile spring. The air is filled with the scent of fresh blooms, promise and possibility. In the Southern Hemisphere, we celebrate the fall harvest and prepare for the inner journey of winter. Overhead, the waxing Moon draws us inward for reflection even as we celebrate the change of seasons with our community. Our voices rise in gratitude. Aho. Mitakuye Oyasin.

Spring Festival - Sagittarius Full Moon - May 31/June 1 - 9:04 PM EDT May 31; 1:04 AM GMT June 1

For those in the Northern Hemisphere, this is a "blue moon" or the second Full Moon in a month. This isn't especially significant astrologically, and the moon isn't really blue. We have "extra" moons every two to three years because the Gregorian calendar doesn't synch up with natural lunar cycles. The Full Moon in Sagittarius/Gemini is the third of the spring festivals in esoteric wisdom traditions. The spiritual energies germinated at the Aries/Libra Moon (Festival of Easter) and cultivated at the Taurus/Scorpio Moon (Festival of Wesak) are now disseminated in Sagittarius/Gemini for the benefit of all beings and the Earth. This is the Festival of Goodwill. Our intent is magnified exponentially through this portal - something to keep in mind when we're out there having high-spirited Sagittarius fun!

Do-Over - Retrograde Motion of Jupiter, Neptune, Pluto and Chiron

Last week the dreamy planet Neptune stationed retrograde and will move "backward" through Aquarius until the end of October. This is a subtle shift, generally imperceptible. But Neptune's station on May 24 joins up with two other planets and the asteroid Chiron transiting backward from our vantage point on Earth. That's a little mysterious.

The retrograde motion of transiting planets gives us an opportunity to explore again and perhaps resolve the issues and lessons we were dealing with on the first pass-through. After the planet stations direct (or returns to forward motion), we get one more chance. Right now Jupiter and Pluto are doing that dance in Sagittarius. Jupiter returns to forward motion on August 6, Pluto on September 7. Chiron, the Wounded Healer, is transiting retrograde in Aquarius through mid-October. Next month, Messenger Mercury will begin a three-week retrograde period on June 15, and heavyweight Uranus will station retrograde in Pisces the following week.

How these planets line up in relation to your birth chart will determine the effects you'll feel and the opportunities that await you during their retrograde transits. If you're getting that deja vu feeling all over again - this just might be why.

Looking Ahead
The times they are a-changin'. Folk guru Bob Dylan had that right. Tension, drama, crisis, war, collapse, shortage, disintegration, overthrow, revolution. That's pretty much how it always goes at the end of a cycle. And we happen to be at the end of quite a few cycles, not just planetary, but galactic and cosmic. The end is the beginning.

Planetary transits are really turning up the heat now. (And you thought the past few years were wild!) Over the next five to seven years and beyond, we'll experience unprecedented Earth changes, social and political upheaval, economic shifts, breakthroughs in science, medicine, technology, media and the arts . . . and mass spiritual awakening.

Can you imagine a more exciting time to be alive on this planet?

The next few years will be the most intense rollercoaster ride of our lives, and 2007 is a turning point. We have an opportunity to choose how we'll ride this wave, what to hold onto (precious little) and what to let go (more than we think).

Vast cycles are ending. It's time for the new. What do the heavens reveal about the changes and opportunities we're experiencing on Earth?

Pluto has been transiting back and forth over the degree of the Galactic Center in late Sagittarius since late 2006, and this year Jupiter joined the party. Watch for their explosive conjunction on December 11, after they've both crossed the GC.

Saturn in Leo trines Pluto in Sagittarius on August 6. This is a turning point in the same Saturn-Pluto cycle that shockingly changed our reality with the events of September 11, 2001. This year's trine is a choice point. How will we as individuals, communities and nations respond under intense pressure to evolve, six years after 9/11? And is it a coincidence that we have a New Moon Solar Eclipse on September 11 this year?

Jupiter squares Uranus and trines Saturn three times each this year. Unexpected opportunities and breakthroughs are likely. Saturn and Neptune continue their opposition that began in August 2006. Outdated forms are dissolved to make way for more evolved expressions. Leadership is transformed to better serve humanity.

Right now, the 120-year Uranus-Pluto cycle that began in 1961 is being activated with the initial energies of a prolonged square that becomes exact in 2011. This first-quarter square in the Uranus-Pluto cycle will propel us through the 2012 gateway and into new, uncharted dimensions. The dance is intensified in 2010-2011 as Saturn forms a T-square in cardinal signs with the two planets associated with upheaval, destruction, chaos, power and revolution.

During this period, there are no sacred cows. E-v-e-r-ything is subject to destruction, to be reconfigured at a higher level. Whether you're looking at the Mayan calendar, Eygptian, Western, Vedic, galactic or any other timekeeping/astrological system, this IS the 2012 transition. It's a period of time, not a specific year or day. We're in it, now. How will we manage ourselves? What will we take with us into the next cycle? What will we create?
