The Technology of Balance - The Meditation Toolbox
In the Meditation Toolbox, we have discussed how the physical body can be a focus to increase self-love. This week, we will focus on the feeling center of the body, the heart, to bring more love and balance into your life. The heart is an amazing space within the human form and like other aspects of human experience, it is multi-dimensional from subtle to dense.
Begin a meditative exercise by sitting in a comfortable chair and focusing on your breath. Take a moment to bring yourself into the present moment... then focus your awareness on your heart. Have a sense of your heart on the physical level. The color 'red' may come to mind as you feel your heart beating in your chest. Spend a moment being grateful for the miraculous job it does delivering blood and life to every part of the body.
Next, bring your awareness to the emotional dimension of the heart. Tune into the feelings that currently reside there. You may feel love or hurt, an expansion or contraction. Spend time just sitting with whatever feeling is present. Once you feel in tune with the emotional heart energies, visualize the color 'pink' (the emotional color of the heart). Invoke a feeling of warmth and love in the heart space and let this radiate out to the rest of the body. Stay with this feeling for awhile.
Stay focused in the heart space and move to a more subtle level. Staying with the feelings of love and expansion, visualize the color 'gold' flowing from the heart. See this gold color shine brighter and brighter until it is as radiant as the sun.
Bring your awareness to your heart as often as you can. Remind yourself that pure consciousness resides at the center of your heart and the feeling of love is its very nature.
