"Freedom" (and California)

Hi everyone, some of you might know that I like and am interested in words and language. "Freedom" is a word I use and think about often and come across regularly. I am interested in what people mean by it and what it means to them.

For me, fundamentally, freedom is allowing others to be who they are. I guess I could say I am a recovering control freak, so this is why this kind of freedom is important for me.

Also, I am going to California in 10 days for 2 weeks on a solo trip. If anyone is familiar with it then any recommendations would be most welcome (areas of great beauty, nice beaches etc)
