Jabberwocky
'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"
He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought
And as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! and through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
"And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!"
He chortled in his joy.
'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!"
He chortled in his joy.
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
Lewis Carroll’s poem “The Jabberwocky” has a different meaning for different people, although Alice in “Through the Looking Glass” did glean the meaning of the first verse from Humpty Dumpty. Alice sums up the poem by saying it seems that something not very nice is killed. Carroll’s poem, although containing nonsensical words of “portmanteau”, i.e. words fused together to make a unique meaning, carries a fascination because it inspires imaginings of whatever you would like or think a Jabberwock to be. My Jabberwock has been a large winged beast, the personification of the 3-D aspects of myself and others. While some say that we as a whole have already moved into the 4th dimension and we slip between the 3rd, the 4th and the 5th, it has been difficult for me lately to face the denser, negative, lower energies, and transform them.
The Jujub bird, the Bandersnatch and the Jabberwock are (to me) different challenges that are tugging at me and threatening to pull me into the abyss of 3-D consciousness. When I thought of this POEM to match my current mood, I felt as though I was NOT the slayer (as I would rather transform than kill the Jabberwock – although perhaps, as the creature returns to earth, the fearsome winged beast is actually converted rather than completely“dies”), but rather, I distinctly felt as though I am the story-teller - a story-teller who rejoices in the vanquishing of the Jabberwock by his “son”. The parable of the Jabberwocky (to me) is a story about the vanquishing of the Jabberwock.
Now, Mr Carroll was asked about the meaning of the poem and his part-answer is on the web-page linked below. I - Star Wise or Celestial Celine say this - no matter what the poem really is about according to Mr Carroll, or to Alice, Humpty Dumpty, or to anyone at all reading or listening to it, I find the poetic licence or unique creativity and entertaining originality in the poem’s creation to be totally refreshing and delightful. In these days of fast changing vibrations and intense energies, and intense GAPS, I find myself being nudged to be CREATIVE, and the Jabberwocky reared its head to remind me of this !!
Like Lewis Carroll making up new words, I shall try to create new visions and ways of being, all birthed in 4th and 5th dimensional frequencies. I solemnly pledge to start with taking two steps back from the negativities which I face and addressing ALL needs in the eternal “Now” (including my own needs – balance needed – there’s the tight-rope and I can cross it, I know I can). I know that I need to accept and tolerate the new circumstances in my daily personal life, and with grace, thus transform the Jabberwock of isolation, chasms (“the gap”), and defensiveness - to the Frufru bird of Peace and Happiness for all !! My “up” when I was “feeling the love” a short while ago see-sawed and dipped into the pit of doubt as I encountered yet more changes in my workplace and with it, the strings of the ego-minds pulling at me. I have been struggling lately, but part of the reason is because I long too much to return "home" and have had to accept that such will happen when it happens. Fortunately, I have always had a strong imagination, and by applying it now, I feel the bliss again, to get me back into the “groove.
Dear friends, feel free to join me in creating your own poetry of light and love. The Jabberwock is a part of each and everyone of us. No, I am not "mad" - I feel my moods and the energies as music, poems and creative things, and from the Jabberwock I pledge to create my own new poem - so stay tuned my friends ( if you wish to tune in) for the next episode of " ... this is my energy and moods."
Namaste.
