The Swallows are back!!
This evening my younger son and I went for a walk with Poppy dog, keeping our eyes on the horizon, looking every where. Near the valley is a small flood plain that is fed by the Bisoe stream the May here is in full Bloom, giving off that sweet scent of lilac and pepper, Still looking, still listening for a Chirrup and the Dive bombing flight of the Swallow.
The Swallow is an amazing bird it builds it's nest out of mud and straw (Wattle and daub) I have a few nests under the eves of my Out Houses. They are normally occupied for forty years or more by generations of birds, who return from South Africa every year to my little home in Cornwall.
Yes! they have arrived I see them swoop and climb, diving after the first spring gnats.
All the way from Durban to Gwennap. 6.000 miles.
Soon they should be courting and repairing their old nests.
When the time is just right they mate in full flight. Latter when the hatch-lings look over the nests in late spring it fills my heart with joy.
Life going full circle.
The Swallows are back!
The Swallows are back!
For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere
Have a Wonderful Spring.
Love & Peace
