A story about my little Heros!
Yesterday afternoon, I met a friend at the park to try to play some tennis after many years. We were chasing down the ball more than we hit it. I joked that my aerobic exercise was running and bending and it was a great workout. Of course, my Forty something body protested a bit and I finally understood the term "weekend warrior" lol. I have to admit that I was more than a little bit sore and that never happened when I played tennis at 16. What I realize now, is that I should have thanked God that I am still able to play, albeit a bit rusty!
I had to go inside the skating rink to use the bathroom as the outdoor ones were not yet opened. I held the door for a small girl who looked to be pushing her brother in a wheelchair. When I came out of the bathroom. I saw an amazing site. The boy in the wheelchair was getting suited up to play hockey! How can a child who cannot walk play hockey you may ask? There were about a dozen kids strapped to low sleds who were breezing around the ice by using their arms with what looked like oars. I went outside and got my friend and said, "come inside -there is something that I want you to see!" So on a chilly spring day, we sat inside a cold ice skating rink watching a bunch on kids who COULD NOT walk PLAY HOCKEY! It was a really amazing thing - I think a lot of people take their ability to walk for granted!
I realized that what I was seeing was really pretty miraculous and wanted to share the beauty with you all. As I watched these little HEROS, the light inside the rink positively glowed with their energy! There was so much LOVE & HAPPINESS in the eyes of their family memebers and friends who were there to cheer them on.
Just remembering them now has me grinning from ear to ear! So in an age, when we see so many sad things, it is my pleasure to share a bit of joy and happiness with you! May you this post finding you all shining bright!
Be Calm Through the Storm & stay always in the light. . . In Faith, Hope & Love, Gina
