NOTICE ME

NOTICE ME

Oh hipsters of the Internet
my brain is not like yours
i look up to you imploringly
open smile upon my face
i live entirely in the moment
i long for your embrace
Notice me, notice me!

if i could i would come running
and hug you half to death
but i'm tied down to this chair
this painful merciless chair
i wait for you to feed me
and put me down to rest

In the streets of every city
there's a windy corner
a soulless windy corner
and on that windy corner
squats a bundle
of grimy rags

I pass by with glance averted
I see and do not see
if I weaken this one time
they'll bring me to their level
their grimy, gritty level
bring out the Christ in me

Where have the angels gone
in this modern world?
perhaps they're in the garden
with the faeries and the elves
Or just maybe
a little maybe
of course I can't be sure

that windy intersection
may just hold a clue

So hipsters of the Internet
privileged and well healed
next time you see that open smile
or bundle of grimy rags
glance back a second time.
Perhaps it's your angel crying
Notice me! Notice me!
