Man in the Moon

Veriditas's picture

I, man and Moon
So much we had in common
Both of us were full
And stood alone.

Oh, we reflect much light
Or we could not be seen
But who could see it

Stark and alien among the stars
We desired so much
That we hid them
and in so doing denied a part of ourselves

Deep is my love
As is the lonliness in my heart
Gazing with envy upon a graceful dancing world

My voice is the lonely cry of the loon
The bay of the wolf
Sometimes
The voice of a madman.
