Unconditional Love?

Ok let's define what is unconditiona love:

Is to love without expecting nothing in return
To give without expecting nothing in return
To forgive without expecting nothing in return
To overlook mistakes and see the positive side of things
To understand that, when you give something, you should give it with love, so the person receiving the gift, also receives a blessing.

But, are we always that way? Are we always giving with the right hand by keeping open the left one, awaiting for a compensation?

Are we really giving love with our heart half closed?

Even little children expect something in return for their good deeds.. But they are only a reflection of us, isn't? Hardly anyone gives anything for free, hardly anyone gives unconditional love. We see it everyday... couples shower each other with expensive gifts, trips to Europe, expensive dinners, etc. But what if one day our love one can no longer afford those thigs? Would you still be there by their side? Would the level of affection change from 10 to a barely 4?

Perhaps because I am very sensible to what others feel, my eyes are my soul and what my eyes see, it can either hurt or rejoice my soul.
