On Psychic Phenomena

Some Psychic Definitions:

Clairaudience

ability to hear “spirit” voices beyond the range of normal human hearing.

Clairvoyance

Ability to “see” not using the physical eye

Clairsentience; Empathy

Connections to the emotions of others, sensing, feeling.

ESP or Extra sensory Perception

Obtaining information in other ways than that of normal senses of touch, smell, taste, or hearing; subjective thought.

Pre-cognition

Ability to percieve future events

Psychokinesis

Ability to influence the environment, without direct, or indirect contact; “Mind over Matter”

Orbs (Photographic Anomalies)

EVP or Electronic Voice Phenomena

ESP or Extra Sensory Perception

To me there is nothing spooky or paranormal about any of these definitions, and I abhorr the use of the word paranormal. It is my understanding that all of the above are different aspects of one widely recognised, yet severely misunderstood phenomena. Telepathy.

Telepathy; pure thought.

Tuning into higher vibrational frequencies of the minds of others and the collective unconscious.

The only difference I see between people is the state of evolution of that particular “gift”; some people are more advanced in their awareness and use of the mind as a tool.

It would appear to be an inherant trait in human nature to distrust our instincts and it is something that we must re-learn, and accept. We seek collaboration of our thoughts and ideas with others who have had similar experiences before we can allow ourselves to be trusted! Lack of conviction in ourselves can also be a direct result of “dampening” through deliberate distraction techniques such as Television, hobbies, alcohol, drugs etc. All of which make us forget who we are.

Are the answers to our questions buried deep within, sheilded by the infernal chatter of the conscious mind? Carl Jung would have you believe so.

We need the influence of another perspective, different from our own, but seen as a mirror image reflected back at us for recognition. The connection, or telepathic link is severed, in my opinion, when we begin to affix labels to everything instead of directly experiencing consciousness for ourselves. Would you really believe something is true just because another person says so?
Guidance from non-human intelligence, that co-exists on another plane of vibration, through the medium of telepathy seems fairly plausable ro me. As does communication with the evolved intelligence of those who have passed from the earth plane, out of physical existence into the subjective realms and beyond. All connected through the same energy source.... life.

Our personalities and thought processes, emotions, mind are all multi functional as well as multi dimensional, so the outmoded conception of duality of Human consciousness is literally the wrong assumption to make.

On Psychic Phenomena

Experimental psychology suggests that we have the power to produce phantoms that are as real as the spirits of the departed. It is a generally accepted theory that the soul which is torn from it's body suddenly, prematurely or violently, retains many of its earthly characteristics that it would if the soul in question had left peacefully and consciously.
When death is the reuslt of the slow and natural degredation process, and the seperation from the physical body has occurred naturally, it rarely leaves an imprint behind, save that of the memories we carry around with us of our loved ones.
It is thought that certain physical elements retained by the spirit who has suffered a particularly sudden death will have left a part of its consciousness on the physical plane through which it can manifest certain feats of phsyical strength.
*Through the strong will of the subjective mind.
It is my understanding that those who have died under circumstances of great mental stress are those most likely to produce certain elements of phenomena that we call psychic disturbances, or negative activity.

THOUGHT FORMS

A phantom or ghost can be created by a living entity as well as one that has passed from this plane of existence, as an intensified telepathic vision, (it's objectivity, power, persistency, and permenance being in exact proportion to the intensity of the emotion and desire that created it)
The embodiment of an idea or thought form is endowed with intelligence pertaining solely to that one thought.

The difference between a telepathic vision transmitted from one living entity to another, and a phantom, or ghost of a deceased person, is of degree, not of kind; of species, not genus. Both are creations of the subjective mind; both are created for the purpose of conveying intelligence to others. In each case, the vision ceases the moment the object of its creation is accomplished.

Obssessing spirits or Ghosts cannot be commanded out of existence, they must fulfil their reason for being.

“THOUGHTS ARE THINGS”

Certain places are pervaded by a mental atmosphere which corresponds to the former inhabitants of that space. There are many sensitive individuals who, upon entering that space, can relate the incidents that have occrred there in great detail. This is especially true of cases where the inhabitant experienced great sorrow and emotional distress. The influence and its magnitude can be 'tapped' into for years after the initial event, sometimes to the point where people feel they have to move home because the influence becomes overbearing.

TELEPATHY

Consider these generic classes of Telepathy:

A thought form sent from one living person to another for the purpose of communicating information to that one individual. This would be percieved by that person probably in the guise of visions or dreams and when it has accomplished its mission it fades away.

A thought form sent from a dying person to the world at large to communicate some fact of portentous import. It is sometimes made visible to the objective senses and is usually confiend to the locality of its inception, which it will haunt until its objective is accomplished.

And finally this third classification would partake in the characteristics of the former two and its only difference being that it is created by a living entity. It would also be confined to one locality which it haunts; it is not sent to one particular individual, but impresses upon anyone who happen to inhabit the space in which it was created.

Polergeist Phenomena.

Poltergeist phenomena could be created by a living persons repressed hostility towards a person or concept, and it is possible that other apparitions may also be created by the repressed needs of the individual. Altered states of consciousness where the un-conscious is in control and we enter into the subjective reality

Psychological pressure from latent trauma can also intrude into the consciousness in the form of irrational behaviour, nightmares, apparitions, and visions.

AMBIENT FIELDS

Ambient fields contain pockets of information which can have a dramatic effect on brain patterns, resulting in altered states of consciousness. There has been some research into electrical stimulation of certain brain centres resulting in halucinatory states wherein past life experiences can be relived and effects similar to that of alien abductions have been produced. This is not to say that these events are purely hallucinatory but that they can be re-produced under laboratory conditions.

Alien abduction phenomena, OBE experiences and psychic phenomena are closesly related and they could involve the human system responding to magnetic or electrical field exposure, or they could be the result of changes in the brain chemistry due to a heightened emotional state, breathing excersises and meditative processes.

The signal from a personal field can also cause electrical equiptment to malfunction, and especially so if theperson in question as tear in ther etheric field which liteally leaks ans dispels their enegy resulting in depletion of lifeforce.

If suppression of emotions from past experiences are the fuel for the phsychokietic disturbances then poltergeist activity could be the “letting off steam” by moving objects through emitting pockets of energy through the subconscious mind, so that the person in question doesn't have to go through the trauma of re-experienceing these repressed desires or emotions. Similar to the “soul essence” of a fatal tradgedy there are instances in which a part of the consciouness is left in the place where this activity takes place. The effect of shock on the nervous system and its consequent expulsion of emotions, anxiety, fear etc leave a psychic imprint, or energy bubble may react to the field of any person who comes into contact with it after its creation.

Moods and extreme emotions, especially negative ones, can cluster together and form “black spots” where it is not very pleaseant for any person to spend a great deal of time. So if you happened to move in to a house without knowing a little bit about its history first.... you could find yourself being affected by the prior occupants moods, thoughts and lifestyle.

Sensory flooding and the Close Encounter phenomena have been reportedly experienced in a condition of total silence; in timeless isolation with no ambitent sounds. Sensory deprivation can lead to the “unconscious” taking control and flooding the senses, first with a sound or a bright light or smell which knocks out the rational faculties. Field exposure can have the same effect.

Photographic Anomalies

Sometimes strange things appear on photographs that were not percieved with the naked eye at the time of the picture being taken. There have been instances of unexplained extra limbs or the “orb” phenomena appearing in photographs.
Generally the “orb” phenomena occurs on digital images where the picture has been taken in a low light setting using the flash.

There are hundreds of pictures of “orbs” circulating on the internet that have been taken with digital camera's. On one of our investigations in Morganton in North Carolina, we managed to photograph some transluscent shapes in a room which was no longer used, in a Mental Hospital. The room in question had a strange feel to it when you walked in, and we were told that there had been deaths in that room which were particularly gruesome as there had been a fire many years ago and people had been trapped in it.

If you look at the image you will see a large transluscent shape on the top right, and under the white pipe. There are also some smaller ones down in the left corner, over the pipe. When I took this image there was nothing like this showing through the viewfinder, and I was quite surprised to see them at all because I took the picture with an analogue Olympus camera, because at that time I didn't have a digital one.

On that same excursion I also visited Helen's Bridge in Asheville, North Carolina. It has been alleged to have had a few tragic death's associated with it. Upon receiving the processed pictures I was again surprised that the photos I had taken from three different angles all showed the same patch of mist hovering over the bridge. Again, when I had been looking through the viewfinder all I could see was the bridge, the trees and no hovering mist!
It was a bright clear January afternoon when they were taken. We did go back at night with the tape recorder to see if we could pick up any EVP but there were too many cars on the road to get any substantial recording time.

Bearing all this in mind, a couple of years later we moved to a new house and we were having a bonfire in the back garden. It was halloween night and we had a few friends around. I was taking pictures with my new-ish olympus digital camera. When I took the camera back inside after photgraphng my husband at the bonfire, I looked at some of the images only to find hundreds of “orbs” floating around the garden. I asked my husband to take some photos as well. He took a couple of me standing beside the bonfire. One with the flash on and the other without the flash.
Funnily enough there was an orb right in front of me when the flash was on and none with the flash turned off. It would seem that whatever they are, they don't have the capacity for self illumination and that they are visible only when “flashed” or illuminated via an external light source.

So later on that evening I decided that I wanted to see if there was any in the house. I snapped a couple of successive pictures to see if I could catch any “orbs”. To my surprise, when looking through the images, the “orbs” appeared to be moving!

This led to the idea for this experiment and if you would like to do this experiment, with or without us, I would appreciate it if you could record your findings so that we can publish them along with ours in the future.

Pick a place that has been reputed to be haunted, and , or photographic anomalies have been takes there in the past. Take a digital video camera and a strobe light (if you can hire one). You could use a seperate digita camera on a tripod and utilise the flash on it while you are recording. It will have the same effect, but will just take longer to perform.

In theory you should be able to set up the strobe light so that it points in the same direction as the camera, from behind it, to produce the flashes to illuminate the anomalies. Then during the editing process take out the dark frames and you should be left with the moving image of the anomaly. You could try setting the strobe at about half the rate of the frame rate on your camera, or even slower.

Electronic Voice Phenomena

EVP is a relatively recent discovery, attributed to impressions recorded (left behind) after seriously tragic fatal accients, or relayed messages from those who passed over and left a part of their consciousness behind.

Whatever the cause of this phenomenon, there is obviously a reason for it. Because most assume that they know the way the world works, they tend to assume that everything works the same way. Through the development of cultural ideas we should be able to utilise popular theory and “common sense” knowledge based models of perception to profer a sensible thesis but more often than not this subject ends up in the demonologie section rather than in a meta-psychological investigation.

Our consciousness has been generally far less aware of itself than it is of the objects it percieves, the attention being focussed on the relationships and not the consciousness itself. Perhaps if we could experience these phenomena as well as percieve them, we might understand their reason for being and diepel their energy in a similar way to that of the Spirit-release worker.

For now, my conclusion in this particular area mirrors that of the poltergeist phenomena and the creation of phantoms in that it is a part of the consciousness that has been imprinted on the space where tradgedy has occurred, and the only difference being one of auditory evidence and not visual apparitions.

The science of the “mind” is a misundertood and under researched concept. There needs to be more diligent research carried out in the areas of emotional intelligence and its association with the mind; the process and influence of the emotions on the ductless glands and its relation to disease.

Mental health, relationships between the emotions and the physical wellbeing and its subsequent imbalances;'obsessions' and the science of energy and the etheric layers of the human body are subjects which are fundamental core issues that need to be understood before attempts to understand the whole person will be successsful.

I feel that the great error of parapsychology has been to try and solve its problems as if they were physical and rooted only in the realm of matter and sensation. The failure to grasp the significance of other factors that contribute to a man's sense of space may be due to the following misconceptions:

every effect stems from a single and unidentifiable cause;
and that a man's boundary begins and ends with his skin.

If we rid ourselves of the need for a single explanation, and we can think of the man as surrounded by a series of expanding and contracting fields which provide information of many kinds, we shall begin to see him in an entirely different light.

ESP or extra sensory perception could be defined through the analogy of lightening, non-electric convergence bridging the gap between two meaning related contents, which if connected – prove to be complimentary in regard to their meanings. Making a 'Gestalt' of them.
The word Paranormal is in itself a misnomer in that it means impossible by the laws of a particular system which construes reality in terms of our 'usual' theory about what reality is, and not an 'expanded' or 'extra' sense perception.

As much as I would love to say that we humans are all the same, it is glaringly obvious that there are subspecies and not just cultural differences between us.

There is much talk of negative energy, or lower frequencies which are attributed to states of limited consciousness or awareness, and the higher frequencies (cycles per second of the brain) carrying more information and 'messages' in its expanded consciouness state. That literally means that people are experiencing different reality constructions depending on their state of awareness and level of interation with other people, ambient fields, higher frequency vibrations etc.

“Common sense” western views of reality are predominantly that of “the ways of the many” in that a large percentage of the population lives in the see – touch realm of experience. I feel that this is partly chosen on an individual basis to close themselves off from indirect experience, and partly through social, environmental and psychological conditioning.

Clairvoyant, or united reality could be cited as the “way of the one” with no boundaries to the flow of information, and no-thing is seperate from anything else. Prayer and religion fall into this category and also those who have experienced miracles that are “out of the ordinary” but are in reality normal for the reality construct of the “way of the one”. Through this kind of perception we can also slip into Mythic Realms of reality wherin we can subjectively experience lucid dreaming, the concept of myth, sympathetic magic; spatially, temporally or conceptually percieved as identical with the whole; the name with the thing; the symbol and its object.

Through play we can put ourselves into the frame of mind in which creativity surges and we channel information and concepts straight out of the pool of resourse which is the collective human consciousness.

As I am sure you will be aware, there are hundreds of different metaphysical systems that all purport to have life changing effects and in reality there is a fundamental truth in all of them. As your thoughts dwell on aspects of a higher nature.. so does the consciousness rise out of its mundane experience and consequently allows more information to filter through and into direct conscious experience.

Universal Behaviour.

Anyone can be a psychic healer, through altering their conscious perception from sensory mode into clairvoyant mode through making the person they are healing into their focal point.
There are many different approaches used by alternative therapists
such as alignment with magnetic “Earth Energies”, or invoking deities, prayer, chanting and establishing a “rapport” with entities of non-human origin on behalf of person they are trying to heal.

The psychic healer acts as a catalyst for the patient to get in touch with their own inner power, and can bring about total recovery from physical and mental disease.

Plato belived in the immortality of the soul and that through the leaden weights of becoming, we experince life as a practice for death. He also believed that through the intellect, the purest elemnt of the soul, forms were discovered.

According to Aristotle the “active intellect” is seperate from the rest of the soul, coming from outside the body and therefore immortal.
