Managing Your Spirit Guides

There are times when we are so open to intuitive guidance and inspiration, so connected to our Spirit Guides, that we are subjected to a practically limitless, constant flow of information. Ideas abound. No sooner do we finish one project than we are inspired with three new possibilities to take its place! It seems like ten different avenues to be traveled present themselves at once - and we want to travel all of them. We feel overwhelmed and exhausted. How can we ever accomplish all that? Don’t our Spirit Guides know that there is simply not enough time in the day to do all that?

Actually, they don’t.

Once we are open to the flow of information from our Spirit Guides, we have to understand the perspective from which their guidance is given. On the spiritual plane, time does not exist. Time is a third-dimensional organizational construct that allows us the illusion of linear progression from choice to consequence. Linear time is an essential part of our learning experience here in this physical incarnation. But it is not a construct to which our Spirit Guides adhere. Similarly, energy moves at the speed of intent on the spiritual plane - maybe even “faster,” given that time does not exist and so neither does the concept of speed. By comparison, moving energy by taking action here on the physical plane is a ponderous process. Moving physical matter takes a great deal of work when you compare it to the ease of shifting pure energy. Not only that, but information is immediately available on the spiritual plane, also. In the physical, on the other hand, we have to learn new skills, do research, and educate ourselves before we can take informed and effective action. Oh, and on the spiritual plane, money does not exist! As you can see, our Spirit Guides come from a very different frame of reference when they offer us information.

When we are in intuitive information overload, we have to remember that our job is to manage the guidance we receive in order to express it coherently at the physical level. Our Spirit Guides are a tremendous source of information. But we are in charge of putting that information into workable, practical application. From time to time, this means setting appropriate boundaries and guidelines.

If you feel yourself bombarded with far more inspiration than you could possibly act upon, it’s time to manage the information flow more appropriately. Your Spirit Guides will be highly receptive to this process - they want to assist you in the way that serves you best.

Here are a couple of ways you might do this:

Ask to be inspired with guidance as you are available to act upon the information. To me, this looks a little bit like this: “Tomorrow morning, I have time to either write a blog post, or revise the home page of my website (these, by the way, were truly the most pressing items I felt drawn to yesterday). Depending on which project is more in alignment with my highest good and intended outcome, please inspire me tomorrow morning when I wake up with a post topic/website copy and let me know which project to attend to first. Thank you!” Since you’re reading this, you know the answer I received!

Tell them exactly what you need to get the job done. For example: “It is my intent to complete this project, but in order to do this I need people to show up in my life who have the following expertise: …. Thank you!” Or “I know it would serve me to attend this class/workshop/event, but in order to do so, I need $xxx to come into my life by next week. Thank you!”

Remind your Spirit Guides that you operate within linear time. If you want anyone do to something for you - your spouse, your co-worker - don’t you specify a time frame? What if they had no concept of time? Even my two-year-old sometimes needs to be reminded that everything takes time here in the physical - and she’s been here for a while now. Your Spirit Guides and Higher Self need to know what frame of reference you are using. So take a moment to communicate the intent that all requests to them will be made within the “Now Time Line.”

Delegate, delegate, delegate. It’s not your job to figure everything out yourself. If you do not know how to get from where you are now to where you are inspired to go, put your Spirit Guides to work! If you have no idea where your resources are going to come from in order to move towards your goals, let your Spirit Guides know! If you are given a next step but your situation does not currently seem to allow you to take that step, delegate this issue rather than trying to make it all happen yourself.

Imagine having a staff or team to assist you at all times. Would you want your team to simply assume what you want and need, based on their own frame of reference? Or would you work together to “get on the same page?” What would be a more satisfying work environment for your team?

You are the manager of your resources on the spiritual plane. You will be stunned at how much your Spirit Guides can accomplish on your behalf as long as you ask for what you want, when you want it. These amazing, unconditionally loving beings are here to serve you to the best of their ability. Make their job a little easier by being a good team leader!

Blessings,
Andrea
