why dream about the 1700's?

I dreampt this about 2 wks ago, it was different from others I've had....I seemed to be viewing an 'exhibition' from the 1700's who's purpose was finding a group of 'settlers' from the 1500's. The men in the exhibition group were very excited to find what remained of the settler's. As I 'viewed' the discovery group, they handled papers of the settlers, maps and journals and such in this small room which was very dusty. There was a table and 2 chairs and broken bottles and jugs, and a skeleton of a man chained to an iron (stove?) leg, and the remains of a big dog. What was kind of more weird was when I 'viewed' the man and dog, I seemed to 'see' what they'de looked like alive (in the 1500's).The dog was being fed in front of the man(who looked very old and frail)and the man was given nothing. Then, perspective shifted back to the explorers and this discovery of settlers who apparantly had a difficult time. And I woke up. Hmm. I've thought it over and over, but can't place why I'd dream of 2 separate times in history like that. Any comments are welcomed! Seileann : )
