Cleansing Meditation

Background:

This meditation was taught to me by a yoga instructor at the World Evolution Center in Long Beach, CA. The purpose of this meditation is to cleanse and detoxify you internal system (this will clean out your intestinal system). I have discovered that doing this meditation can really bring you into a deep meditative state. Enjoy.

 

Process:

Once you have situated yourself in a comfortable seated position (cross-legged or seated in a chair), relax and take a few deep cleansing breaths to center yourself.

To begin this meditation, inhale deeply through the mouth like you are taking a big drink of water (inhaling in this manner will fill your diaphragm more easily). Relax and feel the air in your body as heavy like water sinking down into you abdomen. To help this along, swallow a couple of times to push the air down deep into your diaphragm. Slightly exhale through your nose and then take another deep breath to further push the air down into your system. Relax for a few minutes and expand your diaphragm and feel the air fill up your abdomen and move down further into your lower torso. Hold this place for a few minutes and when you feel ready, slowly exhale and collapse your diaphragm completely until all the air is squeezed out of your body. Return to your regular breathing for a few minutes. Once you are ready, repeat the process. This meditation should not be done more than 3 times per session.
