Endless questions

I've only recently began conversing, and getting to know my spirit guide, Valeria. it's still etchy, and based mostly on feelings and impressions, but i'm learning. Anyway, i've recently began wondering a few things i can't get clear answers to and thought i'd see if anyone here might have some insight.

1) do we truly have more than one spirit guide? b/c I'm only aware of Val, no one else. (as far as a guide goes at least. i do feel passed family members at times)

2) In theory, what would happen to a person if they didn't have a guide? I realize we come into this life with one. But say...something happened. Unfortunatly i know this to be possible as something not so pleasant happened on the other side and i was without for a few days. I was very lonely - but what might happen in the long run?
