From the perspective of our higher selves

Sometimes -perhaps often times- resistance can come up when we are being faced with lessons we must learn. When our experience is compelling us to broaden our minds to a larger perspective or to let go of the need to control every step of our journey and trust that it is turning out perfectly, we can have the tendency to fight it. We can have a tendency to identify with the limitations we are being compelled to transcend, to even define ourselves by them, and therefore find the prospect of change threatening.
The truth, however, is that there is no opposing force to resist -no external god commanding us to sacrifice who we are for growth, and no external devil trying to seduce us into false promises. There is only each of us as individual expressions of All That Is manifesting everything for ourselves through this God infinity. We each have a soul that is an enlightened being, with a magnificently expansive consciousness, choosing to have an experience through this body, this person, and this lifetime. We not only HAVE this soul but we ARE this soul. When we identify as this soul or as our higher self (a "smaller" consciousness with a more acute personality than our soul, but one whose awareness encompasses our entire subconscious as well as conscious mind) we can become less attached to the resistance holding us back from where our true self is leading us. We can take a step back and realize that all the resistance is merely a more limited mental/energetic program (from the genetics of our body, the learning of this lifetime, some other lifetime, or the group consciousness) which is conflicting with the more broad and enlightened place of understanding and being that we are headed for.
This body and this personality you've been experiencing life through are but your avatar -the vessel for your divine self on this plane of existence. Growing and overcoming resistance to growth is just tuning up our avatars and working out the little kinks! It can be quite fun.
