How do you define 'freewill'?

I thought i would ask an open question because there are interpretations of what defines free will on this site.

Some people say they have freewill and legitimately believe they have freewill, but they are still chained to the slavery of the modern establishment, they live by their religions, go to work, pay taxes, do as their govts tell them to do, believe what their scientists all say...they are slaves to their conditioning despite aspiring to be truely free.

Some people say they have freewill and are independant so are truely free. They are unafraid to take control of their dependancies, create their own controls and manifests and unafraid to think for themselves and break free from shackles that bind.

I really genuinely wish to know alternate views and beliefs on what freewill means so that i can extend my understanding of those i am surrounded by.
