Advent and the Gift of Faith

Pheo Rose's picture

During Advent I think of births and beginnings. Faith must be birthed too. We all have opportunities to give it birth, but so many pull back aborting it. Many give birth, but give too much control to those or the one who helped bring it forth.
For many, Advent is a time of re-living and celebrating the birth of Love infused into humanity. It takes faith to "see" the immensity and reality of this. So, I thought I would share a poem/verse about those single moments when Love is able to break through our defenses, and we feel a reality so precious, yet outside of the one we have chosen. What happens in those moments and what do we do with them? Can we grasp faith and not let go? Can we have the humility to recognize our faith could be greater, and grasp that?

Nascent Faith

Touching unending expansiveness – even just for a second.

Accepting for a moment – the inconceivable is.

Shedding despair's torment of "Is this all there really is?";

Our Vision of Existence we find after all, is ever so limited.

"I believe" utters our astounded voice.

Presence enveloping all loneliness, catching our heart's beat.

Our Vision of Love expands with our breath.

"You do Exist" utters our astounded voice."

Do not extinguish this flash of hope, hold this glimpse of clarity rare -- buffer taunts of inward doubt.

Fleeting the destiny of what could have been, if one lets go of this moment.

Eternity unfolding is what can be for one who tenaciously holds its reality.
