Hurray! On December 18, the Mayor and City Council of Stockton, California, (population 290,000) will officlally proclaim 2008 a Year of Spirituality, Healing, and Peace. Here is the projected phrasing of the proclamation, which supports the work of the Interfaith Council, the holistic healing community, and the Peace and Justice Network.

"Whereas, humankind stands on the verge of transformation and Stockton aids this transformation by encouraging groups which espouse shifting consciousness through creative expression, environmental and community planning and design, “practicing what is preached”, democracy, city revitalization, responsible citizenship, and communication networking, encouraging its populace of many different backgrounds to work consciously together to make the city a better place for all…

"Whereas, by focusing on streams of life and love activity in Stockton, where the people of Stockton are continuing to envision and courageously co-create a healed world, a world of peace, Stockton upholds its place as a beacon toward humankind’s transformation…

"Whereas, Stockton has a well-developed interfaith network which consciously works for interfaith understanding and cooperation in undertaking projects which benefit the city as a whole, a developing holistic network which consciously works for integrated health care serving the body, mind, and spirit of its people, and a well-developed peace and justice network which consciously works to educate citizens on issues of societal change, to benefit our city and our transforming world…

"Whereas, all groups and organizations in Stockton—religious, medical, nonprofit, educational, or city departmental-- are invited to become Centers of Spirituality, Healing, and Peace, fostering healing by celebrating Stockton’s diversity and cooperation in the year 2008, bringing even more healing and harmony to this city…

"Whereas, change is healthy and we co-create our city every day by the choices we make, the ones we aren’t afraid to face and move through, when we look after each other and help each other and live with each other and love one another, by co-creating the mindset necessary for peace, the willingness to BE peace in accord with the United Nations Charter for a Culture of Peace, living our ideals in what we think, say, and do…"

This Lightworker exhorts you to continue to stir things in your city, too. As my Aikido teacher says, "The only direction is forward."

Love to you all from Zing!
