Winter Magic

redmoon's picture

Outside my window a nearby cluster of trees huddle together.
They are only a small group of giants embracing a narrow field quite wild and unkempt,
but in the Summer they look like a mature thick wood,
full of vibrant greens and an abundance of birds and squirrels,
and splashes of white flowers and blackberries.
As the Autumn has progressed, the abundance on the trees
has begun to look thinner - but not for that have they lost their majesty!
Their greying skeletons have uncovered all sorts of tantalising intricacies to awe the mind.
In their new guise they look serene and melancholic,
holding an undefinable elegance as they slowly retreat to the depths of their winter slumber,
closing their eyes to the comings and goings of humanity around them.
As the trees have begun their winter journeys, the lattice of their branches dance into the night,
their silvery shades devising a million figures that to play with the stars
or to dissolve into the blackness until daybreak.
And in the middle of the night golden lights blink just beyond...
the wood becomes alive, enchanted, a small Lothlorien just outside my window....

With endless Joy and Love
