how did you get into your spiritual profession?

hi everyone,
i have realised that i would definitely like to share my energy through helping others reveal their spirituality - so far the steps are coming little by little; i have come from background of good spiritual awareness and openness, but have followed convention when it came to work.
i was just wondering if anyone would share how they entered their spiritual profession - how you made a transition from your old job if you did, and what the process of change felt like (eg. how patient do you need to be??) - and of course any words of wisdom would also be appreciated!
