Being green is the modern paganism?

I caught the end of a tv programme yesterday saying how people who are going green are like modern pagans, in the sense that they are living off the earth and returning as much as possible back to it, leading a more natural life. Does anyone have any thoughts or views on this? I don't know much about paganism myself, I always thought it was just an early religion. Can anyone elaborate please? :-)
