I have titled this section of my blogs ‘Thoughts & Experiences’ and have noticed that I have not mentioned any of the wonderful experiences I have been having. So before I start rambling of more thoughts here goes! So far in my life (33yrs) I have never seen a full rainbow, either because I never really paid attention or just didn’t. In the last three weeks I have been really blessed and got to see three full rainbows (three separate times), and it was simply beautiful truly incredible to the eye. The last two times I saw the rainbows I actually saw another rainbow right beside them, wow! I know it doesn’t sound like much but I know for a fact that these are truly a gift. What also struck me during these astonishing moments was how so many people simply ignored them, walking or driving by without even a glance. I suppose for many these wonderful gifts are not such a big deal but for me it was just glorious. What made it so glorious was the fact that I enjoyed these rainbows with my family, my angel wife and my two beautiful children. My son turned to me casually and said that the angels were giving us a gift; my daughter shook her head in agreement.

In life it seems that we sometimes get caught up and forget to enjoy the little things. A full rainbow in the middle of the day gets brushed aside as ‘not a big deal’ or ‘so what I see them all the time’! We have programmed ourselves to want more or something bigger and better so the little miracles in life get pushed aside. Now this doesn’t only happen with beautiful things we see it happens with everything in life. Opening a door for someone or helping someone with their bags has also become not a big deal. Offering someone support during a difficult period has been shrugged ‘so what’! Sure these things shouldn’t be a big deal because this is what should come naturally to us but in today’s day and age we do not consider it that way. We have simply ignored the little things, the little things that lead to big things. I must have mentioned this quote a thousand times and know that I will repeat another thousand times because I just love it. Mother Theresa once said, “there are many people that can do big things but there are not many doing the little things.” I ask all light workers, actually I ask everyone not to forget to do the little things. At times we feel as if we must do something more, something bigger and better and we end up doing nothing. Just like the rainbow is ignored or that gorgeous sunset we ignore the little things that mean so much. Do not misinterpret what I am trying to say, there is nothing wrong for wanting to do more as long as we do not forget to the less. Mother Theresa said it best, ‘we need more people doing the little things’. I can write a book tomorrow or solve a mystery but if I stop doing the little things like helping someone with their bags, or spending time with an elderly person what good is that? Jesus did not stop caring for people in need and he knew it was even the little things like spending time with them that would help immensely. So next time you see that rainbow, stop and enjoy it because as my children said, “it is a gift from the angels” and the next time you see someone struggling offer a hand. It is the little things that will bring us our heaven on earth, one small brick at a time!
