Dreams about deceased loved ones

I often have dreams about deceased family members. This would be great if they were delivering messages, but the dreams are never of that nature. They are normally very strange, or involve socializing with the loved one like we would have done when they were alive. Never any significant message. Could this be an attempt at contact from their new realm that never quite turns out how they want it to? My most recent dream was of my deceased uncle sitting in a chair, slowly dying and noone paying any attention to him. I am always very affected the next day and normally very sad and disturbed. Any input would be appreciated.
