Electrical Grid Going Down Due to Solar Flares 2010-2012 per. James Gilliland

In one of his videos on Lightworkers, James Gilliland said that, at the end of 2009, the earth's electrical grid would be going down due to massive solar flares. I do not see these flares effecting large areas of the grid for very long periods of time, but James didn't talk about this. He said that NASA has said that 2010-2012 is when the solar flares will peak ending in 2012. My brief google search confirms this.
Does anyone know more about this?
