Responsibility
I had an opportunity yesterday to teach my oldest daughter. As some of you know, she is 18. Typical teenager. At her core, she is sweet and loving. Towards me sometimes, she is a bit hateful. Angry with me 90% of the time and blames me for her lot in life. The divorce, etc, financially, and she feels entitled to things that she needs to give herself at this point, not looking at me for everything. But I digress. I live in a small town/city in Ohio, and there is a rampant issue with stray cats. One of which comes up to my porch and I feed. He is an unneutered male and recently had lost alot of weight, so I really wasn't sure how his health was (fearing feline leukemia.) Since i have 2 indoor cats of my own, I can't just bring him in, he needed some tests and meds, along with flea and ear mite treatment. Anyhow. Porch cat, which my youngest recently named "Barney" shows up, and I go out to give him fresh food and water. I pet him as usual and my hand hits an open wound on the side of his head. Needless to say, his usual grouchy demeanor is even more foul, if that is possible. I tried cleaning the wound myself, and decided I may lose a finger or two, or at least skin, without help. I called the vet and Marissa and I took him in. On the way there, she looks at me and says, "I don't know why we have to take him in and pay for this"
I just kind of looked at her. "Well, Riss, sometimes it doesn't matter. No one else seems to be caring for him, and I can't let him just suffer on the porch with an open wound. If we don't do it, who's going to?"
I hope she got my point.
Long story short, we all need to step up sometimes.
