What's wrong with reiki?

When I was initiated level 1 reiki I thought it would help me fight a serious depression I had had for years. Didn't work. But it made my body aware of the energies around me. So now I can feel the holy love people send me. And sometimes it is so strong that I can't help hugging on them...which sometimes - so many times - caused me trouble. :-(
I became dependant on my reiki master and she finally sent me packing. Hope and dream turned into despair and nightmare in some way. When I met my reiki master later she said she had stopped practising reiki and "would she be dying, she'd not use it anymore"!
I'm so LOST.
