Unraveling relationships

Sometimes it can be very difficult to let go of the past. Our society likes so much to pigeonhole us into particular types of relationship which can limit our freedom of soulful expression. We are all unique beings each with a unique life path and purpose. We cannot be defined by the rigidity of a pre-nuptual agreement, for just as we are evolving, so too are our interactions with one another. If we are wise, we will allow space for our relationships to continually unwind and unfold in which case they will flower as living, breathing glorifications of the divine...

Rising together on the wings of truth
Rigid relationships create expectation, needy ideals which become impossible to fulfill. The soul will simply not be bounded in such a way. It will shake the foundations of anything that would limit and constrain it. Such unrealistic burdens become unbearable and over time we create a collapse mechanism; either we fall or the relationship does.

However, if we can be profoundly honest with ourselves and our loved ones about our true feelings, we find ourselves continually dieing to the past and being reborn in the present. The personality yields itself on the altar of unconditional love and freedom of expression. As we embrace each other in the new light, that which no longer serves us falls away and we step through the doorway into a glorious new interaction.

To me, this is the way it was always meant to be. Clinging to the past is not a viable option. The soul is the one thing we can't compromise. We must continually seek the authenticity of right relation with one another. This is the way to ever expanding inner peace as we rise together on the wings of truth.

It was as I contemplated these things recently that an amazing piece of music came to me by the artist David Gray called "Shine". The lyrics and energy touched me deeply because they speak so eloquently of the soul's journey through the crucible of life. So for all of you out there dealing with ever evolving relationships, this song is for you...

Shine on!
by Chris Bourne

"I can see it in your eyes
What I know in my heart is true
That our love it has faded
Like the summer run through
So we'll walk down the shoreline
One last time together
Feel the wind blow our wanderin' hearts
Like a feather
But who knows what's waiting
In the wings of time
Dry your eyes
We gotta go where we can shine

Don't be hiding in sorrow
Or clinging to the past
With your beauty so precious
And the season so fast
No matter how cold the horizon appear
Or how far the first night
When I held you near
You gotta rise from these ashes
Like a bird of flame
Step out of the shadow
We've gotta go where we can shine

For all that we struggle
For all we pretend
It don't come down to nothing
Except love in the end
And ours is a road
That is strewn with goodbyes
But as it unfolds
As it all unwinds
Remember your soul is the one thing
You can't compromise
Take my hand
We're gonna go where we can shine
We're gonna go where we can shine
We're gonna go where we can shine"
