Something I think about
OK, this probably isn't the most important question on the planet, in fact some folks look at me funny when I bring this subject up, but it is something I am troubled by every now and then.
Last night I shared my shower with a giant, black, furry spider who had about 70 legs...well, seemed that way to me. I just continued showering, never once turning my back on the creature...but I'm wondering how folks here in Lightworkers handle bugs and killing.
Life is life. Do we ever have a right to extinguish life? I mean, nobody wants a buncha spiders or cockroaches or ants in their home. Termites will actually eat you right outta house and home if you give them time. Flies are nasty germ carriers...and I'm not even gonna get into centapedes and other slimy guys. How about fleas? I gotta houseful of critters around here, so fleas is an issue.
Whattya think, is it OK to kill pesty insects when they invade our homes? I honestly don't know. I gotta admit that I do kill bugs. Not on a personal one to one level, but we keep this constant sprayer thing going to keep our home insect free. Sorta chickens**t...I guess, sticking the Konk up there and allowing myself not to have to deal with the issue, but there ya go.
I have all sorta mental games I play with myself about this. I tell myself that if I were an ant, or cockroach or fly I'd be happy to be put outta that stage of evolution and set free to move along. I can be very creative in my little mind. I also have this idea that if I apologize that makes it better to kill something. "I'm sorry to take your life, but hey, I don't go into your home univited"...squash.
Living out in the bush means that we have lotttttsa bugs around and they like being in my house. I don't kill stuff outside, well...I have hubby get rid of hornet and wasp nests, but that's a matter of survival, I'm allergic to stings. I don't use chemicals in my gardens, just plant a bit of extra stuff for bugs.
I wouldn't dream of killing a bird, a snake or a hare or a kangaroo or any of the other folks that come visiting at our place, should bugs be any different? I honestly don't know. Does anyone else ever wonder about this, or is this just me being odd yet again?
