Starbucks Out of luck?
I signed into my MSN account and this was on my homepage in big red letters :
Starbucks To Close 600 Stores
Good Grief...
I enjoy a cup of Joe like anyone else. But come on.
This is headline news?
Your favorite shopping mall ,may not have a starbucks kiosk to support your caffeine fix ?
You may have to walk or drive to a major intersection or airport ,subway to get your fix. The local library and or school may have to find other uses for the Square footage allotted to Starbucks. Like OMGosh..a book store or something !
Reportedly Starbucks is the Largest coffeehouse in the world.[1] Add to that the amount of stores currently held internationally in 2007 = 15011. [2].
That equates to a mere 4% of Starbucks coffeehouses closing.
I believe the corporation grew too quickly. Perhaps a bit greedy, pushing other corporations ,albeit smaller out of their way.Capitalizing on the market.
Starbucks is making modest cuts. Yes, Employees will be relocated,And some, if not most will end up unemployed. With a nice severance package.
The bottom line is this ,if the economy takes a hit, perhaps lowering your prices on that cup of Joe, would encourage instead of discourage personal spending.
Weighing the cost of a Starbucks Carmel macchiato made with soy ,VS a gallon of gas needed to drive your auto from point A -to B (starbucks) to C (wherever) . Is a no brainer
