Cause and Effect
The Inner Dance is not a cause. It is an effect.

It is the effect of purgation, of cleansing and letting go. It is the effect of ceasing to fear, to depend and to control.

If I am the cause of my healing, it does not mean that I am the cause of the healing of others. Nor am I the cause of the personal transformation of others.

When people come to me for healing, people sometimes hope that I become the cause of their healing and personal transformation. I cannot, even if I wanted to.

The Inner Dance healing is not a cause, it is an effect. In my case, I am the cause of my healing (effect), and in your case, you are the cause of your own.

When people find a powerful energy coursing through them as an effect of an interpersonal healing session, they think that the “healer” is the cause. The healer is never the cause. If any person gets healed in any way, it is because the person being healed caused the healing to happen; any effect of cleansing, purgation and letting go happens if a person has already been cleansing, purging and letting go of attachments to ego in the first place.

As a facilitator, I have never let go of my simple storytelling of my intimate experiences of surviving the simplest lifestyle at the beach, just to establish the simplest point.

In this way, the Inner Dance experience, through me, is a trick question.

Whether you have a powerful or an unremarkable reaction to a healing scenario can help you clarify whether you are living as the cause of your life or at the effect of it. If you feel the energy coursing through your body, you are feeling the effect of yourself as primary cause. And if you believe in that effect, would it not make sense to you to one day, STOP looking, stop talking about the effect, but rather focus on how you are living your life as primary cause of your life on earth? Not my cause, but your own unique and equally beautiful cause?

The cause of the Inner Dance healing is purgation, cleansing and letting go of ego and attachments.

A lot of people talk about it. As an effect. It is much nicer to actually live it. If it is to cause any perceivable change in our lives.

I’ve been living out the effects of my Kalipay stay for exactly two years. What a beautiful time it was, meeting the souls that are now choosing to set in motion the healing of our planet. I must now return to the beach to digest the many things I’ve “eaten,” not just food, but many academic, economic, political and entertaining things I’ve managed to absorb along the healing path. With these experiences in tow, I feel that I am ready to go back to digesting the parts of the universe that are stuck to me, and in so doing this in silence, find my way back to my first, second and third selves. Knowing the effect that this particular beach has on me, I may not be able to leave Palawan for another time and a half. I have an idea how long I’ll be there but would rather not start counting days.

Understanding
I seek to understand why people think the way they do, why we maintain such tension-filled lives living with each other. In my search for understanding and in trying to touch, hear and smell the world at large, I apologize to those who think me less of who they wished me to be. Thank you for your patience.

For those who found value in the Inner Dance movement, thank you for your open heart. Many of you were present in moments of pure magic. These moments will not be repeated, and as such, they are treasured. New ones with just as much magic awaits us all. I am glad to have enjoyed those moments with you and look forward to the next.

To those who are still trying to understand the “Inner Dance” as a method, a modality, a system: Much of what is filtered through workshops and sessions were created out of nothing. If you are looking at arguing about a specific way it should done, and that one way must be better than the other, you are creating nothing out of something.

Like I have written and mentioned so many times in the past, much of the healing techniques being practiced came out of my experience as a reflexologist and masseur while much of the workshop process came about from the necessity of bringing about healing to a large audience at one given time. Even if the process leads to the vastness of the “Inner,” it was nevertheless, invented.

Even the “Inner Dance” moniker came out of the need for it to be called something in SMS, emails, the website and conversations.

I fully look up to people who have developed through the inner dance, and the whole myriad of healing modalities available out there, their own philosophies, techniques and motivations for healing, teaching and processing people. They are teachers in their own right. They are healers with an independent spirit, sharing their own resonant inner cause and effect so that others around them might do the same.

If the “Inner Dance” changes form in the future, it is because others see fit to bring in their own causes into the picture. As just one teacher of the Inner Dance, I thus proclaim, let this “Inner Dance” either cease to be, to grow, or to become a whole new set of other things altogether.

Leonard
In my two years of healing around the Philippines, there was but one man I met who placed infinitely more emphasis on the Inner Dance as a cause rather than as an effect. Upon feeling a powerful surge of energy envelop him and his daughter, he turned to the cause of the shared experience. Not me, the “healer,” but the first principles that led to the healing. After our first meeting, it took him just a week to wrestle with his dependency on material energy and in a matter of a day, gave up cooked foods ABSOLUTELY.

He didn’t need to go to the beach to do it. He did it within his difficult environment in NGO work in Mindanao, to the harsh ridicule of his workmates and friends who did their best to find forceful and very silly ways to stop him, including the firm insistence that “he is going to surely die.” In front of my own ears, I heard his own friends within my community backbiting him, about the way his body looked as he was undergoing intense weight loss, severe physical and emotional weakening, skin detoxification, and psychological stress.

It’s been almost a year since he has begun a life of absolute purgation of the negativity he wanted to cleanse himself of. Through innerwork and with no support from the outside world, he chose to be the cause, and the effect, of his own life.

I’ve observed the change in him. He is happy. To me, he is living proof that great personal transformation is easy to attain if you set your heart to it.

It isn’t easy, what Leonard did. At many points, he had to face his fear of death. If he wasn’t anchored to his belief in the existence of his highest self, I don’t think he would have survived the experience unscathed. He later decided to bring the healing to his work, to the chagrin of his workmates. He was successful in this, considering his audience were former Muslim combatants who aren’t necessarily open to healing as a way of making effective the Peace Agreement between the military and the Muslim Liberation Fronts.

Deep down, he understood a most basic law of the universe. Set your highest goal on the highest love, and for no reason whatsoever, should you allow yourself to change your mind.

The Big Kahuna
If I could share but one thing to people I’ve met along the way, it would be this:
______________________
Spirituality isn’t like medicine, needful prayer or a Swiss Army-knife.

Spirituality isn’t a tool for getting what you want.

You do not even know what your spirit may want for you, so focused are you on what your smaller mind think it wants and needs.

The Inner Dance isn’t a tool for getting what you want; what you think you need. Rather, it is a tool for letting go of your needs. It doesn’t mean spirit will not get you what the universe has coming for you. It only means that we must start putting our hearts in the right place; where the desire to give freely takes the place of neediness and deprivation.

Ascension
You are your own cause living out your own effects. Your cause may not be the figurative beach, it may be Moses’ symbolic desert, Jesus’ wilderness, the Buddha’s forest, Mohammed’s mountain; or it could also be your own busy city.

If you desire your life to dance, you cannot do away with purging. And you cannot keep your eyes from your ascension, even if you are only now taking glances at it.

Though it may be the hardest thing you will ever do, you will have to start climbing at one point.

There is nothing else to do. No one else will do it for you.

Just take the first step. And another step. The whole point is to take enough steps to realize that walking and dancing to your higher will is the easiest thing you will ever do.

It is so simple. The cause of the Inner Dance is love. The effect of love is happiness. Find your highest love, and on the same island lives your highest happiness.

Love,
Pi
