When shall people be released from the tyranny of money?

An old friend of mine is sitting by his hut under an apricot tree. It is hot. He waves at me to come over and there we sit the two of us looking out at the mealies waving at the blue sky and we have not any care, neither him nor me. He has no glasses: he does not need them. He tells me he has nothing and he has everything.

I have just read a piece about money right here under "abundance philosophy". It is a Mayan point of view and I was delighted to find someone who agrees with me. If ever you look at vidoes on "manifesting" you will find a large number devoted to making money. Money is merely energy they say over and over. Read Wallace Wattle, they say. Now, I dont like money. We come to the age of "the home business", the "passive income" and various other notions. I joined one and was immediately overwhelmed by the sheer amount of time I had to give in order to understand it and then there was more. It was baggage, people, unwanted baggage. It was bread stuffed in my mouth with no sauce. More and more bonuses, like possessions that multiply, spawn more possessions, filling my life with exactly the same energies as too much furniture, too many books, too many dark suits or gadgets. Yes that is what too many bonus gifts feel like to me. Above all it was the time wasted in the preoccupation with money. The article itself is amply rewarding. I do not need to repeat what has already been so well-written but for a couple of quotations:

People in the past did not use money.
"There was a time before humans allied themselves with demons, and not so long ago, either (12,000 years ago when agriculture was invented)." I lived among the Bolubedu of the S African Lowveld and their society was not based on money. It worked fine.

"It's not like, "When the money comes then I'll stop worrying about it." which is what we tell ourselves. No, the truth is that the mechanism works the other way around. When you stop worrying about it, then the money comes.

Well I do have faith. While all those enlightened gurus of manifesting were placing money alongside spirit, I did not believe them. Absolutely my friends, freedom is freeing ourselves from the possessions which money buys and living like the tiny bird that trusts.
