please help me with this ...two things really

Years ago I read a poem/short story about a warrior from the east who meets, on a bridge, a warrior from the west.

thats the limit of specifics I'm unable to give anything further. please post a copy for me if you find it.

Also, regarding a short story, about a fish type thing that lives in a river and watches life go by. then learns that it takes participating to really live. What is the title?
