I've developed an interest in gemstones.
What does this have to do with you?
Well, please don't take offense but
Stangely enough, I can't recall ever
Noticing anything unique about you;
Except that you kind of look like
Jennifer Aniston in a way, I guess.

Please don't misunderstand my meaning.
I don't want to give anyone the impression
That I'm always looking for something
Unique in a person because, in truth
Each of us is exactly that...unique...
And there's no need to go on searching.

On the day of your last birthday, however
I have to tell you I did notice your eyes.
I mean, I'm sure I've looked at them before,
But this time, when my gaze lingered on them
I really saw them, maybe for the first time.

That evening, instead of watching all those
Commercials between segments of American Idol
I flipped back and forth between QVC and JTV
That was when I saw it on Jewelry Televsion...
A breathtakingly gorgeous gold emerald ring.

And then it dawned on me like an awakening:
That the icy fire of the green emerald gemstone
Is what I see everyday in your beautiful eyes,
The likes of which I've never seen before.
