Snowflakes

All afternoon long
White, fluffy flakes
Of snow were falling
At a rate of about
A foot per second-
So much more slowly
Than the rate at which
I fell for you.

Later, I couldn't fall asleep
My thoughts were racing again
Memories of you, so deep
In my mind, remembering when
< >
< >
Your hot hands upon my head
Your breath washing over my face
We walked new paths where you led
Me, following your footsteps and pace
< >
< >
Your gentle touch and gentle words
Words of love, or so I heard
Words I thought were meant for me
Words I turned into fantasy
< >
< >
I played myself out and
Right out of your game
A beggar and fool for your love, was I
Showing you my true washed-out colors
And that fake, false aura which you so easily
Looked right through to see my transparency.

< >
I'm all alone again with just your memory.
I don't have you, and I still don't have me.
