The One and Only

I feel the future fading fast
As we catch up to our past
Never quite reaching that end
Times twist, overlap and bend
And in spite of our souls' sakes
We bend and bend until it breaks.
How quick the seasons come around
Catching some of us off our guard
And no matter which phase we're in
I keep wishing for a change, any change
Not able to revel, or simply just live
In the moment, in this Moment!
'Cause I'm stuck in this pattern
This rabid cycle of discontent
Although I'm doing what I can
To improve my chances for love
Believing time to be on my side
I still feel far apart from you
In a mindful (or mindless) moment
I'll be a minute older than I am
Right Now! No matter how hard
I try to recapture my vitality
Youth will never come back to me
So I focus on new-found strengths.
We think we can measure time
With crystal quartz frequencies
And the pinpointed accuracies
Of the almighty atomic clock
Are the prophecies coming true
Right before all our eyes?
My brown eyes, your blue eyes
All the do I's and don't I's
And will I's or won't I's
What is your one singular truth?
Mine is that I love you.
But will I ever say it?
For love is the only thing that really matters.
