A Different Kind of Love

A Different Kind of Love

To not think about you

Is unthinkable to me

And life without you

Is unlivable for me

It ain't the pain in my heart

It's not the hole in my soul

Or the absence of healing hands

That made me feel whole

Though what is the purpose

Of me stating this case?

My life's a big circus

An unwinable race

You'll feel the same way tomorrow

That you're feeling today

And the torch I still bear for you

Just gets in the way

Of a wonderful friendship

If I'd only planted the seed

It's not what I wanted

But it's just what I need

When I wake up and stay up all through the night

And it hits home I'm alone and nothing seems right

I break down and kneel down and give up the fight

But I swear I still feel you

I swear I can feel you

Enlightened by truth

Enlivened by light

Revelations abound

I'm given second sight

Perceptions are shattered

And old bubbles burst

I'm at one with the universe

Both the best and the worst

'Cause you'll feel like tomorrow

Just how you're feeling today

Maybe this torch I am carrying

Is kind of good in a way

Ours is a beautiful friendship

Blessed by God up above

What you had envisioned

Was a different kind of love

I will lay down this fire

If you help put out the flames

And we'll stand hand in hand

In the purifying rains

Of a different kind of love
