childhood is now

today is a wonderful day of opportunity and growth...today i will shine, laugh, be pure and happy and free...there is a lot of new things that are striking my awarenss today. i am aware of the "spaces" of silence between my cells and the freedom that i wander in between emotions.

our children are our teachers. we think we are here to feed them, keep them safe, teach them of the dangers of the world...but really, they are here to brighten our awareness.

we have forgotten all the things we knew as children.

we knew that everything could be funny even if it was "inappropriate". we knew that love was a lightearted game we shared with those who brought us joy. we knew that imagination made the day fun and deliberate. we knew that we had to sometimes "pretend" to be proper, but couldnt wait to run through a field and mess up those proper clothes.

as adults, it seems, a terror strikes us that is like a lightning flash, causing us to get amnesia. those around us attempt to push us into form..."ok, you got away with enjoying yourself till now, but now, you are an adult, and there is nothing fun about that!" there is also nothing valuable about being an adult. you lose your shine, you forget to laugh, you get serious....

those things are what kill the spirit.

so please, today, if you are reading this, HAVE FUN, even if its just in your head. don't forget that we knew all we needed to as children, and its ok to go back to being that way. only now, its better because we know how to navigate the adult world, something that was a mystery to us as children.

be children. thats all we are anyway. thats all we ever need to be.
