Cups

I left the sanctuary, a sad question still burdening my mind:
Why are there those who may quench their thirst at will?
Whose cups are filled, and then filled again...
While others with cracked lips and parched throats
Have either cast their empty cups away in bitterness
Or else carry them about in melancholy desperation?
