Ascending
We sleepwalked danced through lifetimes,
Attracting and repelling,
Building each other up,
Tearing each other down.
Until one day,
Some of our brothers and sisters grew up,
Escaped from the cave, climbed toward the light.
They begged us to follow,
We cursed them,
Screaming, crying and destroying ourselves,
We fell further into the void,
Eons later, I retrace their ancient path,
and laugh and cry at blinding sun
and breathe in the fresh air.
I am where I was always supposed to be.
As my eyes adjust to the light,
I see them,
Eyes full of wisdom, Hearts on fire,
Hard at work saving the world.
I have found my lost family,
I step forward to ask for guidance,
How do I begin?
Absorbed in their tasks,
They don't hear me,
My eyes fill with tears,
How can they not know me?
My heart, my hands, my essence-
is theirs!
A small voice tells me to quiet my mind,
This journey begins within,
I close my eyes and all is still,
and know I am not alone.
